Get-togethers and watch events have kept me real busy these past 6 weeks - apologies for the delay good people -- here are some delayed pics from the launch, the group shots are courtesy of the good people at IWC Hong Kong Flagship, in particularly Gary. You will notice a few familiar faces below:

Mr Benoit de Clerck, Managing Director of North East Asia, who recently moved from the States to Hong Kong announcing the launch. Can anyone spot where the watch is ??? Hint: its been removed from the glass display and is in someone's hands.

Felix and Naoko in the Portuguese section of HK Flagship Boutique. Mark, there's your boat pic ! with the Titanium Yacht Club, and a very nice travel pouch at the stern end. At the bow end is a glass display for both the platinum and red gold Portuguese Grande Complications, as well as the Desterio Scafusia)

    Shing,

Thanks for posting the photos. We had a good time. It is great to see all the smiling faces.

Thanks IWC for inviting us to the event. It was a great opportunity for the forumers to meet face to face and shared our common passion with IWC.

Really appreciated your report....including seeing the faces of several old friends.

But I thought this was about the launch of the Volvo Ocean RACE, and couldn't figure out why it was in Hong Kong! LOL!!!

Yeah Michael - you are right. There was a "launch" and if memory serves me correctly the official name was "Volvo Ocean Race Sanya cocktail event", and to introduce the Titanium Yacht Club and the Ocean Volvo Race, and also for a lucky draw where the winner gets to be in Sanya (Hainan Island, China) for the start of Leg four. Hope I win :))

Erstwhile - and I forgot this too earlier - this was a very nice souvenir from that evening:

well... I think IWC is having a contest where upon winning (guessing which was IWC's first flagship boutique in the world), IWC would be sending that lucky person to Sanya, China (and a couple of other places) to go see the race, along with giving him/her a stainless steel Yacht Club...

...well... I suppose that still doesn't explain why IWC decided to host it in Hong Kong first, eh? Perhaps because Volvo car is owned by the Chinese now...? :-P

hey, I don't know, and will stop justifying for it--but it was great nonetheless!

Thanks, Shing, for taking the lovely photos and posting them...

...but could you please stop posting photos like these? Do you know you could get some people in serious trouble (ahem, such as yours truly)if you keep posting close-up shots like these?

    :-)

Thanks for another photo-report. You know some days I am really envious of you who "live" so close to the IWC store, but some days I'm really glad I don't - it would probably have lead to too much longing for that next piece and too many discussions with the missus over why I need another fix - LOL!!

Kelvin, have you paid for the watch yet? We were all working so hard to explain to you why you NEED the Ti Yacht Club that night.
