I purchased a Pilot 5004 about 2 months ago. What is the acceptable range for accuracy. Seems Like I have to adjust about 1 minute back every week? Is this normal or do I need to get it checked out?

    Thanks

    ...sounds a bit odd...

From what I've understood, the error margin should be at the largest somewhere in the lines of ±4 seconds per 24 hours. The worst you could do within that frame would be less than half a minute per week.

    My suggestion:
    - stop the watch at the precise moment when the second hand is at zero (as the 5004 works at 3 Hz, you need to be precise to a third of a second), then set the minutes and wait until the precise moment the reference clock hits the time you set to push the crown in.

    • after a week, write down the deviation in time between the watch and the reference clock, but don't adjust the time on either. Do this every week for about a month.

    • after a month has passed, review and check how bad the watch is actually speeding. You might find out that it really isn't, since the ±4 seconds per 24 hours is somewhat of a random range.

Oh yeah, also check the reference clock you set your watch by...

    Good luck!
