Could I have some opinions on this matter??
Both are beautiful watches and seem very capable, which one is better in terms of reliability, accuracy?

You may not find a 100% objective opionion....

I am not so sure you will see complete objectivity here. Certainly, we are all fans of IWC on this forum - so I expect you have already made up your mind in favor of the IWC - and you came to a place where your decision will be supported fully.

There are many, many people here who also own other brands, including a "Speedmaster" or two (myself included).

I have not worn my Speedmaster in 8 years. Nice watch - works just fine - but not aesthetically appealing to me, as it once was. Hope that helps.

    I am IWC biased, so…

If you ask me I’ll tell you go for the Pilot’s Watch. But I also appreciate and have an Omega Speedmaster. IMHO, the Professional Speedmaster hand wound mechanism –called the Moon Watch- is a great watch that can be consider a classic, but from a Mark to a Big Pilot’s, all the IWC Pilot’s model line is more appealing to me than any Speed master.

Objectively, I can argue the Pilot’s has antimagnetic properties that no Speed master have. As owner of both watches I also consider than the IWC is tougher and have a more elaborated parts and more refined details.

My Ref. 3706 13 Spitfire Chrono has a lot of use and I don’t hesitate about how robust it is. My Speedmaster Day-Date is almost new. This can give you an idea of which has more wrist time.

    Just my two cents,
    M

    In addition…

Take a look and told me which is the more refined and beautiful?

I love both watches but I have my favourite.

    Your spitfire looks great.

I own the same, but with the steel bracelet. I fing it more and more appealing with a black croco strap.

    Regards,
    Jean

    Thank you Jean....

Your Ref. 3706 looks gorgeous. I always regret about not purchase the metal bracelet version. The croco straps are easy to get (OEM or not) as an after market accessory, and are not as expensive as order the bracelet.

    Regards,
    M

    I don't think...

you'll find anyone on this forum that would provide a preferrence to the Speedmaster. Although a fine watch and a classic in its own right. It's going up against what is arguably one of the most popular watches in the IWC line and dollar for dollar a great value.

Its a great watch and you would do well in picking one up. I know that everyone who has had one and then sold it wishes they had kept it,

    Clear choice for me

I would go for the IWC, simply because of its sturdy yet refined looks. But to be frank, the Omega has packed quite some interesting features together, I can imagine somebody going for that one too. Would it have an in-house movement, and would the price then be comparable to such a movement by IWC? So, quite an interesing comparison.

    Kind regards,
    Paul, wearing Saint Exupéry Chrono
