I am in love with both of these watches but can only buy one. It will be my first IWC watch. Which one do you prefer and why? I love the simplicity of the Mark XVI, but the chronograph is so unbelievably stylish.

I love both (and own both), but, if I could just have one, it would likely be the 3717 chrono..

Both are very beautiful watches, but when this watch is your first one I would take the Chrono. It looks a bit more sporty, which may be important if you are a bit younger, and it has the chrono function and the day: those are just more fun. The Chrono is also slightly bigger, which is more in line with the modern taste. But whichever you choose, you will have a class watch. Good luck!

    Kind regards,
    Paul

I was having the same question three months ago, and I totally concur with what Paul said in his post - hence my decision to get at Pilot's Chrono as my first IWC. No regret at all!

Of course, both are very nice watches and you must go with your heart.

    Enjoy your new watch!

I had the very same choice recently. I already owned a Portuguese Chrono but rather than the XVI I bought the Chrono 3717 with bracelet. No regrets.

As a recent owner of the 3717-04 and former 3717-02 owner, I can attest to the versatility and style of the pilot chron. Its become my everyday work wear watch (replacing the omega moon/ Rolex sub rotation). I just love the combination of the size, and the utility of the day date and chron functions. I can say the number of comments I have received has far outweighed any watch I have worn in the past. And, frankly, the bracelet is as good as advertised, it simply molds with my wrist.
Good luck in your choice, you cannot go wrong with the quality of IWC craftmenship.
