    Hi,

I have just own a Mark XVII watch and would like to clarify one technical issue with the experts here.

As per the manual provided with the watch, it never states which direction the crown should be turn for manual winding in neutral position. As I have tried winding both directions, I have found that turning clockwise direct is much smoother than anti-clockwise(feeling of frictions).

Afraid that I might damage the watch in turning in the wrong direction, hence seeking some advice here.

    Thanks in advance

Hi Felix and welcome to the Forum!

I always wind mine both ways (as I do with my IWCs and other automatic watches) and never had any trouble.

Congratulations on your wonderful acquisition and best wishes!

As far as I know, all watches wind clockwise, turning the crown counter-clockwise accomplishes nothing, and doesn't damage anything. Good luck with yor beautiful watch!

    Kind regards,
