I am currently shopping for a RG watch and have finally arrived to two choices left. One is the Portugese Perpetual Calender and the other is the Hublot Big Bang RG + Ceramics. I know I really liked both watches and I can only afford one of them...hehehe... so I hope you guys out there can help me to "tilt the iceberg" in order to make my choice.

IWC for sure
Not only is the the IWC forum so I guess you'd expect to hear IWC whatever you where supposed to ask but this is really easy.
The Hublot watches are very nice watches. I like the craftmanshif of the cases, dials and hands. They are almost as nice as IWC. The movements and mechanichs are easier to compare to the entry level IWC's and not fit to compare to a Portuguese of any sort, not even close to a Perpetual Calender.
Protuguese Parpetual for me any day of the week, twice on Sundays.
If you had been asking too choose between the Top Gun (NOT the rattrapante) or the Hublot I might have gad to take time too consider myself.

It's not just because we're in this forum that...
I definetly would choose the ppc.
Movement (pellaton, Kurt Klaus perpetual module etc.)
Tradition (portuguese is a chapter of watch history)
Look: I'm used to think and say ppc is the best looking perpetual on the market, only de bethune can be comparable to it to my eyes but this is just a subjective point of view.
Again, nevertheless it's just my opinion, IWC gives its best in rose gold

Without question the IWC. The
IWC Portuguese line has stood the test of time for many many years, and will no doubt continue to do so.
The Hublot is nice enough, though the ever increasing number of Big Bang variations makes the line drastically overdone in my opinion. J. C. BIver is a superb marketer, but I think that the hype will run its course in time and the watch will eventually decline in popularity.
The IWC is drop dead gorgeous and will prove to be another timeless Portuguese. The decision would be easy for me.

i doubt many folk will tell you anything else here but genuinely...
out of these 2 watches i would definitely go for the IWC.
the hublot is big and clumsy and thats ok with casual wear but the PPC can be worn with anything.
search the archives for "richard sheridan" and you will see from his pics what i mean.
in fact ask him.. he has both of the watches in question.

The right choice....
is a very personal one and both of the watches have their atributes and are very different in design execution.
I would offer a different perspective that may assist in your evaluation and that is to determine what you want to focus on.
The Hublot focuses on the exterior for its differentiators from the pack. The use of non traditional materials (Ceramics, plastic, Carbon , etc) along with precious metals to make its statement and the IWC focuses it's effort on the interior of the watch case to make its statement.
With the IWC you arguably have one of the most elite perpetual movements made. One that offers the user countless hours of peering through the caseback to observe the beautiful in house movement within and an exceptional value for a perpetual watch.
For me the choice would be easy as the RG Perpetual is my grail watch and I wouldn't hesitate to acquire one if the funding were available. Good Luck and I hope that you show your pictures soon

An outstanding and classic in house movement! Come on! Man, the Hublot comes with a ETA based movement with not particular complication. For me is really esasy .................IWC!

Hey, I think you found the answer you were looking for on this forum.
The Hublot is a nice watch - the "fusion" case and strap are nice concepts of modern materials - the movement is durable, but common 7750-based chrono. The IWC 5022/50610 is a complicated wonder of the universe with 64-jewels and a lovely moon phase - and 7-day power reserve. Much, much more watch.
IWC for sure. The rg case is sublime along...
with the beautiful movement and dial.
