Here is a comparison shot of two movements used in the Portofino line.

One would expect it is - but, I held both in my hands and marveled at the finish on both!

Such is the quality that IWC put into this new line, that all the watches impressed. I guess that if one took the time, and a loupe and inspected the movements, one could find a difference - what I can tell you, and all the others present agreed, is that the new leather straps from the Italian masters certainly are visually better! I've always been impressed by the standard IWC leather straps....and could not believe that I could see at first glance, such a visual statement of quality as what I saw on the new straps. Having said that, I must confess that I fell instantly for the new metal mesh bracelet done in that great 1960's style, and called "Milanese".

All in all the new Portofino line is of very high quality and finish.

    Best regards
    Mark
