    Hi everyone!

Got a question for you experts.

I was looking for a smaller piece for my girlfriend, and found a Portofino midsize on auction. The problem, it has no date display. I got curious because, were there made Portofinos without them?

Checked the ser.nr and it was made about 1990.

    Hope you can help me.

    best regards

    /H

    Hello Mossaroo,

Should you not find what you are looking for with the Portofino, a couple of years ago there was a Mid-Size (34mm) Mark XVI in the Pilot Collection. It has the date feature. Looks exactly like the XVI except size and the dial does not say "MARK XVI", only the word "Automatic". Possible there might still be some around at an AD.

    Good Luck,

    Andy

There was a reference 2010 Portofino Ultrathin in 32mm back then. You can find out more via an archives search. In general, manual wind watches don't usually have dates.

Checked the ser.nr and it was made about 1990.

Can use the serial number to check which years the watch is produce?

Moossaroo, I found a good looking IW3209 Portofino Romain in yellow gold, automatic with date, silver dial, black roman numerals and hands. Seller gives dimensions as 35mm x 6.6mm. It's not mine or anyone I know, email me if interested and I will send you the link.

Hi Greg, I saw this conversation and I would really be interested, ------not to increase competition. Just in case Moossaroo is not interested and opens the link for me.
    Cheers Jobst

Jobst, please email me. There is one I found but not sure it's the one I originally referred to, it's that long ago! Forum rules do not permit my posting the link. I still have no vested interest in this one.

Sorry but you will have to email me, for reasons posted above. See my email address below. Have not checked if one is still for sale but it's a good watch site for buyers and sellers. Fortunately I have not seen many marriages or fakes on this site.

Still see that preview is not working, sadly!
