Indeed, it is from 2008, the whole Vintage Collection series of six watches from different families were announced to celebrate that IWC existed for 140 years. The watches were available in steel with a black dial, and in platinum with a white dial. A year later the series also became available in rose gold with a faintly beige dial, and in white gold with an ardoise dial: thus a collection of 24 vintage looking watches, fantastic! The inspiration for every watch was taken from the first model produced for the specific family, for the Portuguese this was a model from 1939.

The Portuguese has a diameter of 44mm, and it is 10mm thick. Very elegant, to me about the perfect size! It has a high class in-house handwound movement, with a power reserve of about 46 hours when fully wound. In a shop window it wasn't really spectacular, but on the wrist it was a super looker, it still is, it is a timeless beauty! If you are interested, maybe there is an AD somewhere that still has one. The whole series was discontinued in 2012.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

44mm x 10 seems a strange 'size'. Was the movement a special build?
I was looking into the existing 8 day and comparing with the 75th when i stumbled on this vintage. Personnaly i find it sublime! Thanks for the photo Paul.
If anyone still has the spec sheet i would be interested.

Got to see this in person.
