    Hi,

I have a new Portuguese Chrono on the way with a deployment clasp. As I won't be at the AD to pick it up, I was wondering if someone could tell me (or show in a picture or 2) how to adjust the leather strap hole setting (i.e. adjust fitted length of the strap). Does the clasp end that has the tang/stud that sits in the leather strap hole open via hinge? How is a different strap pin hole selected?

Sorry if this is an obvious question but my previous watches with deployment have been with metal bracelets and not leather.

    Cheers,

    Sushi.

    Hi Sushi,

Congratulations on your new Portuguese Chrono, a classic beauty! Welcome here on the best IWC forum in the world too, you will be able to learn a lot about IWC here.

Here are a few pictures of how the strap goes through the clasp. I hope this helps.

    Thanks Clemens.

Can you show me how the clasp with IWC written on it is adjusted up and down the length of the strap? Is it hinged and does it open to allow the wearer to select a new hole?

    Thanks,

    Sushi

IANC and can not show you, but I will do my best to tell you.

The portion of the clasp with IWC engraved is solid and does not swing open. It has a small stud under the clasp where the IWC is engraved that engages the hole of the strap. To change length, you simply pull the strap downwards away from the clasp to disengage the stud from the hole. This may take some wiggling as the stud has a slight enlargement on the end to keep it in the hole. Once disengaged, simply slide the strap to the length you want, then press the strap towards the clasp so the stud engages the hole.

If this is not clear, let me know and I will try to take step by step pictures.

    Here's a stolen/borrowed photoi151.photobucket.com/albums/s150/ap10046/photo3-1.jpg

Everything about the clasp is fixed. There is a little pin on the underside of the "IWC" that allows you to place it in any of the eyelet holes for adjustment. It becomes pretty intuitive once you have it in your hands.

One thing that caught me off was slipping the tail end of the strap in the proper slot of the clasp. At first I put it through the rectangular gap (right above the "IWC" and it was a rather amateurish mistake.

Thanks all. Received the watch today and it's a beauty. Sized it fine and it is indeed intuitive.

    Cheers,

    Sushi.
