One week ago Caddyhound presented his Portuguese Chronograph Ref.IW371445 with golden hands / figures combined with a Milanese strap.
My girlfirend also opted for the Milanese strap in combination with a Portuguese Chronograph, but she owns the ref. IW371446 with blued hands / figures, also a very nice combination imho!

Again, this looks great. That Milanese mesh bracelet really is made very well, as the picture shows. It makes the Portuguese Chrono look so fresh again, a bit of a different, dusted watch: I like it.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

Your girlfriend has an interesting wrist.

Interesting and creative combination. Personally, I prefer the Portuguese watches on straps. I think I'm so used to seeing them that way, anything else looks unnatural to me. But if you and she like it, that's the most important thing!

    Wow... At last !

    Very nice indeed !

I posted a while ago regarding this and after thinking a lot, I've decided not to. Not now at least !

Instead, I went for a brand new Bell & Ross Vintage WW1 Military.

I'll get it Friday, hopefully !

So far, I'm just enjoying my Portuguese 371446 with the "standard" blue croc strap.

    Dear STZ,

I have been trying to get the Milanese strap on the Portuguese Chronograph IW371446 like the one in your picture but don't know where to get it. I asked in an IWC dealer in Geneva and they said the Milanese bracelet is not available for the IWC Portuguese Chronograph. Yesterday I also mailed IWC and got the same answer. :-( I completly love the mix with the Milanse bracelet. If you could let me know how to get it I would be very grateful!!

    Many thanks in advance!

    Kind Regards,

    Philippe

"Not available for" is the wrong language. It certainly is available, it just is not sold with nor intended for the Portuguiser. It will fit as evidenced by the preceding photographs and can be ordered. You will want to find out the part number and order the bracelet without confusing the salesperson with what you intend to do with it. Just make sure you order the correct one as the bracelet is available in two sizes (for 20mm or 22mm lugs).

It not only comes in two different widths but - according to my knowledge - in two different lengths, but I do not know the exact lengths. I wonder what are the lengths and what are the different IWA numbers? Having a 6.75" (17 cm) wrist dunno which length choose... if anyone has the info plz chime in!

Very interesting combo. First impression was to me a bit unnatural. But the longer I am looking at it, the more I like it. Would like to see it in flesh though.

    Cheers Chris

You can always just visit an AD and try on a Portofino Automatic (IW356505 or IW356506) and decide if the standard size fits you well or if you'd prefer the extra long Milanese strap (as I did). (Btw: I use the English and Italian spelling but IWC uses the French "Milanaise"). I wouldn't judge by the chronograph as that is a bigger (42mm) watch. One last tip: The Milanese strap is so pricey that you might also consider buying the Automatic or the Chrono (probably at no charge for the extra long strap if you need it) and switching the straps with your 3714 (giving you two watches for not THAT much more). If I had thought of it, I'd have have an extra Chrono in my collection today.
