I have a question regarding the 7 day movement in the Portuguese Automatic 500107.
The Port has the calibre 51011, whereas the Big Pilot has the calibre: 51111. I thought these two watches basically had the same movement. I'm aware, that the movement in the BP recently got updated, so I was wondering if the same thing might happen to the Portuguese.

    Some answers....

Jonas - The Portuguese was originally based on the Cal. 50010 which had an oscillating balance with a 2.5 Hz frequency. It was UPDATED to the 51011 that you specified. The Big Pilot went through the same movement update - hence you may see some talk about "transitional Big Pilots". The chart above has a "forerunner" column that indicates what prior movement caliber the current movement was derived.

Notwithstanding, there certainly has been a tremendous amount of build-up and advancement of the Cal. 5000 family of movements. See the link below, and search the archives for more complete research - it can keep you busy for a few hours. All your answers are here someplace...

    Portuguese updated movement

I believe the main difference between the Portuguese and BP updated movements is that the portuguese has a seconds sub-dial at 9:00, whereas the BP has a central seconds hand. The Portuguese movement is also a little prettier as it is made to be visible through the case back.
