This is the second time I see a IWC pw with a 24 hour dial. It has a cal. 52 from 1896. Original dial or an after market modification?

24 hour IWC pocket watch dials aren't uncommon
24 hour dials on IWC pocket watches can be found; they are not exactly rare but they are not common. Most are found on watches between around 1900-1910.
Shown here are two from my collection: a red gold cal. 52 and an Italian Railroad (RM) watch.
But --a big but-- if you ever were to buy one, why not get one that has a signed ("International Watch Co") on the dial and one that looks like the 24 hour indications weren't painted on by an amateur as an afterthought? I can't tell whether the dial you show is "original" --I have seen others like it-- but it is just not good looking and not special.
By the way, I would distinguish these dials from a "true" 24 hour watch, which is one where the hour hand revolves once every 24 hours.

These (quasi) 24 hour dials...
...could be an inspiration for dials for future Ingenieur or pilot watches. I fear I have become a "retrocondriac":)
Watch out, Isobars will go wild ;-)
You think??? LOL nt.
I totally agree. Said politely, get going IWC! >
Beautiful inspiration...
