    Hi all,

I had the chance to get a 50611 movement for a fair price recently. Here are some photos (sorry for the bad quality, I will take better ones if needed):
    lh6.googleusercontent.com/-_47jHzh4S8M/T8lImc5bUqI/AAAAAAAAAKc/U-8c7OpMI6g/s727/photo+2.JPG

Someone who would look carefully would notice that 2 "stems" are missing:
    - "reserve de marche" at 3:00
    - "little second" at 9:00

The movement works fine apparently (escapement moves inside... :)).

My watchmaker can service the watch, but then I have a kind of huuuuuuge issue:
    - how can I get the 2 missing parts ?
    - how can I get new hands ?

Is there a way that IWC could officially help me there, as the watch does not come complete ?

Thanks a lot for your help,
    Christophe.

Short answer, IWC does not sell parts.

Where is the original case, it's soooo necessary for you to have that.

    Thanks guys.

    Bill,
I know that... this is why I am trying to find a solution not to leave this wonder in a closet when it deserves to live.

    Greg,
I wish I could have the case too... but the movement came alone. My source is pretty clean. I nevertheless sent an email to IWC to ensure it was not coming from a stolen watch. Unfortunately, IWC is not able to track movement after ref 2265400.
I will try to solve the case issue later on... my priority is definitely to bring life back into that exceptional movement.

Any tip or trick is more than welcome.

Thanks a lot by advance guys!
    Christophe

PS: just in case someone has a doubt; I am not trying to repair to sell; I would just love to own a QP from IWC; this masterpiece is magic for me !

    Hello,

I contacted IWC to obtain information.

IWC doesn't sell spare parts and the case is not available as spares.

You don't buy hands and case in IWC.

    Thanks Atilla.

I exchange information with IWC support center... still on-going, but no good smelling here for a nice ending.

If any of you has a tip for me (appart from "resell your movement" ;) ), I would really appreciate.

    Kind Regards,
    Christophe.

If all else fails, and as a last resort to save that movement, you may try having a stainless steel or gold case made by one of the casemakers in Central and Eastern Europe making wristwatch cases for IWC pocket watches.

You have to find spare parts (needles and case) and assemble them yourself or find a good watchmaker. To mount the needles, no problem. But for the calendar, you turn up the crown as the year changes (so you are on January 1st) and you go up the needles according to the indications of the dial.

Thanks Clepsydra. As the genuine case is made of gold or platine, I think I have no chance to get one. I'll have to get one new tailor made. As such, could you send me some references I could contact in Central or Eastern Europe ?
my email: christophe (dot) noscam (at) hotmail (dot) fr

Thanks again Atilla1. What are the needles you mention ?
I have the good watchmaker fortunately. I need the furnitures (missing pivots and hands). Could anyone around help me for that ?

    Thanks, thanks, thanks.

    Good news tonight !
My watchmaker looked into it, and.... :
    - balance stem is fine (ouf! :))
    - little second and power reserve stems are not missing; the stem is just really short; meaning that those hands must come with a long canion

Before my watchmaker will do the service (as IWC only handles complete watches), I'd like to ensure that I have the hands, so my watchmaker will setup the Quantieme and I'll put the movement on my winder, until I find a solution for the case.

So here is my question of the day: how could I get all specifications in regards to the hands on a QP 50611 ? Best case, I can get a set of IWC hands (can anyone help me out there) ? Otherwise I can try get some others according to specifications.

Thanks a lot guys for your help.
This movement is just amazing... It can't sleep in a closet for years...

    Christophe.

The only reference I have is that of the watch : REFERENCE 5032.

    the needles = the hands

I think you can put any hands.

    Thanks Atilla1 !

When you say I can put any hand, I guess those 7 hands have specific diameters / length. Would anyone have the specifications for those hands ?

    Best

To the hands : you must measure the distance in the dial between the center and the outside. => length

To the diameters you can take any diameters. No problem.
The problem is the design. Choose one that you like.

    Hey ! thanks.
About the diameter, I was meaning the needle eye.
But I can ask my watchmaker to take all measurements.

Just in case someone has the complete specifications for the hands and this movement, I think it will be better and more accurate...

    Michael F. ? :)

No -I just don't have that level of detail. Sorry!

But my question is: how in the world did this movement get separated from its case and hands? And how would anyone find that? I hope it was not stolen (not by you, of course) and the thieves took the case for its gold content.

    Thanks Michael for your reply.

I had the same question so:
    - I wrote several times to IWC: many answers but IWC takes care of complete watches only, not a movement only... well... :(
    - I spent much time talking with the seller before moving ahead; he's from another very famous Swiss manufacturer, same group as IWC, with pretty high position in the company (I cross-checked the ID); he finished to convince me that this deal was clean

...then I do not know why yet this movement came alone.
My guess is that this movement might never been into a case...

Now it is here, perfectly working, looking for hands.
I cross my fingers this will happen someday.
