    Hello all
I am a HAPPY owner of a 3714-38 (black model) and was told that the numbers and hands on the dial are made of white gold.
I always thought that it was made of some kind of silver materials but not white gold
I've been searching the web but can't find the information
    Someone to confirm that information?
    Thanks

Vincex, I don't have access to the specification, but I would think Rhodium-plated.

From what I know, numbers of 3714-01 (gold index) is made of yellow gold and my 3714-17 uses blued steel. It is pretty safe to assume that your watch too have numbers that matches quality of those on other 3714s.
Many watch brands like Rolex and Audemars Piguet use WG for index and hands to give watches more fine look.

From the IWC 2011/2012 catalogue, the 371438 has a stainless steel (SS) case and it seems that, although not specified under the section for Reference 3714, generally such IWC SS models have gold plated or blued hands with silver dials - aka spec for Portuguese Automatic 500114 & 500107, but for the 500109 (black dial) is not stated. However, for the Portofino Hand-Wound Eight Days black dial 510102, it is stated as Rhodium-plated indices. It is my opinion that comprehensive specification for each watch version within a 'Family' is an area that could be reviewed by IWC.

If memory serves me correct, most watchmakers generally shy away from gold / white gold / platinum hands as the weight of them is too great and the hands end up sagging and they end up using a lighter base metal with plating - there always exceptions though :)
