    Hello,

Wanted to get the advice of the enthusiasts. Today after not wearing with Spitfire Chrono for some time, decided to set the time and I might have accidentally adjusted the day-date in the "forbidden" phase around 1 or 2 am. This was a careless mistake. What are the chances that I might have damaged the movement and should I do anything about it at this time? Thank you.

    Dont do anything yet

monitor over the next few days how well your watch is keeping time.
I have known several instances of this happening without any noticeable changes in accuracy so fingers crossed. Let the watch run down a little and then carefully wind it - and listen attentively. It will hopefully sound the same as it did before

Disclaimer: I am only a 3717 owner and not a watchmaker so ignore/believe as much as you are a pessimist/realist/optimist.

I think the problem with forbidden timesetting...

...is not affecting accuracy but rather that there will be a problem with the day/date change mechanism. Because setting a watch during such time can jam a gear, and consequently a change won't occur fully when it should. Normally also one couldn't tell a gear tooth problem in the date changing assembly from winding.

This does not happen often and I would subscribe to your advice that nothing be done. If the watch doesn't change the day or date, and if this persists, then it's time for the watch hospital for some minor surgery.

    Regards,
    Michael

Thank you very much. When the 'incident' happened and I realized what I've done, my heart sank! Now I feel a little better and I will be very careful in the future. Again, appreciate the advice.

I have done this accidentally to my.....

Spitfire Chrono too and nothing bad happens. I felt a little resistance in the crown that advice me something is not going right but it was too late. It was a year ago, although my watch changes day and date perfectly. After then, I am very carefully with day-date sets.

    So, relax.
