This watch never appealed to me in pictures, but I saw a used one in an AD a few weeks ago and instantly fell in love with it after trying it on. Went back a week later to see if I still liked it, and to my surprise, I did. The watch is sportier than anything I'm used to because of the white/silver subdials and the yellow, but for some reason, it works. I managed an AD that would order a new one for an agreeable price and BOOM, it was mine. Arrived this afternoon.

Like all new IWCs, the watch has double AR, which I've come to love on my other IWCs. The bezel is sapphire as well, and lumed from behind. Everything is an aqua blue (lume shots later) except for the minute hand, which matches the yellow lume on the 0-15 minute section of the bezel. Case finishing is perfect, as is fit. The bezel clicks solidly with zero play, lining up at 12 perfectly.

I know what you mean, Ken!

I too thought little of the current Aquatimer line of watches for longest while. I thought they looked like an exaggerated Seiko diver's watch at first.

As I was shopping for another watch at my favorite AD sometime ago... as I was waiting for the sales to get me the box and paper... I... accidentally tried the current Aquatimer 2000 white dial on just for the fun of it.

Little did I know it was big mistake. It had such a smart appearance and presence on my wrist that... left me thinking about it every day.

So, within a month of purchasing another watch, I went back to the shop to get the AT 2000.

IWC... they indeed look better in real thing than in photo (despite the excellent photos that Nad and Shing have been posting).

Got to love the lum shot at night too... it puts a smile on my face every time I see it. My wife would often say to me... "stop glancing at your watch!"

    :-)

aaaaand it's heading back to the AD. Looks like a giant particle of dust missed QC, as it was on the backside of the sapphire crystal right above subdial at "6."
