    Hi everyone,

I just got my first automatic watch which is the Pilot's Watch Chronograph. I have a question on the Rapid Advance feature. Is it that we cannot use rapid advance when the dial on the watch is between 8pm - 2am or we cannot use it when the actual time in my country is between 8pm - 2am?

If it's the former, how do I tell the time if it's am or pm on the dial?
If it's the latter, then I am lucky as I accidentally just did a rapid advance when the dial is at 8:30 (not sure if it's am or pm though).

Assuming if I did damage the mechanism, I assumed my date will not update automatically?

    Thanks in advance.

The issue is to NOT advance the date function using the rapid advance when the time on your watch is between 20:00 and 02:00 hours. To distinguish am from pm pull the crown fully out and advance the minute and hours hands until the date advances to the next day. When the date changes, you have passed 24:00 hours or midnight. You may use the rapid date change at any time except between 20:00 and 02:00 as noted.

Noted Bill. Seems like I might have damaged my first automatic watch.

After I changed the day and date (rapid advance) and then pulled the crown out fully to adjust the time, the dial jumped 5 hours ahead from 8:30 - 1:30 by itself. Is that normal for rapid advance? or was it a sign that I damage the watch?

Find a local AD before you do anything else. Tough to diagnose here.
