    Hello all

I recently acquired a Portuguese PPC 5022 and have a question to fellow owners: does the rotor on your watch make any sound when it moves? On other caliber 5000 watches I have owned I did not experience that sound (almost as if the rotor touches the crystal), and wanted to check whether it is normal or something that should be checked by IWC. Many thanks in advance.

Hi VM Rotors sounds are normal, but as our Modera

tor says, "we can not hear what you do". So, if you have a concern see your AD.

    Thanks Isobar.
Perhaps I did not express my concern that clearly; the sound I am talking about is more like metal touching glass, almost as if the rotor has some lateral movement in it. This is not something I haven't had either on the 5001 or the 5000.

    Ref. 5022 rotor sound

My 5022 also has a sound when the rotor moves - I think of it as sort of like a clicking sound, but after reading your description I guess it could pass for the rotor contacting crystal. However I belive the sound is normal and that the rotor is not contacting the caseback. Furthermore, given that my 5022 has gained an astounding total of six seconds since December 31st 2008, the sound it makes is obviously not affecting performance!

    rotor touching glass

I've heard of a few cases where a cal 5xxxx was touching the glass in the back.
As Isobars already stated: we cannot diagnose what you hear. I'd recommend having it checked at an AD.
    Best wishes and enjoy,
    Tilo

    I'm curious,

please let me know what the IWC service center tells you. As I said I don't believe I have rotor contacting crystal issues but I would love to know how it goes with you. Incidently, my Ref. 5004 also makes a similar sound, and that rotor is hidden behind two (inner and outer) metal casebacks.

The rotor sound was judged ubnormal by the head of the IWC service in Tokyo so they will repair it under warranty. Thanks
