I was in NYC today and stopped by a couple of IWC AD's to see what 2009 Novelties were in stock. Neither had any of the AT’s, but did have a RG VC Portuguese, which was a surprise to me. Have others seen the RG VC models in the USA at this point in time? Maybe the VC RG Portofino is not far behind.
The rest of this post may be OT. So MF, if this is not appropriate please delete. While I was in NYC I stopped by to see the replica of the Marie Antoinette Pocket watch, which is in the USA for a brief time. The original has stolen some 40 years ago and only recently recovered and housed now in a museum in Jerusalem. Brequet some five years ago, before the original was found, started a project to replicate it from their internal drawings and pictures.
The original was completed in 1827 some 34 years after Marie lost her head. It was the most complicated watch of its time. Its complications included: "jumping hours, full perpetual calendar, minute-repeater, thermometer and equation of time. In total, the Marie-Antoinette watch is an assembly of 823 parts". The winding rotor is actually as pendulum since the watch is in a pocket and not on an arm.
I took a couple of very poor photos. The lighting was very difficult inside the display case and my point and shoot camera is not the best. Once again, MF, if this is OT, please delete.
