How long do you think a new rubber strap should last on an Aquatimer worn twice a week?

Mine was fitted by the Geneva service centre and lasted 6 months before it started to tear and then split across, it's not a cheap part and I wonder what you think about that short lifespan?

By the way no its not under warranty from IWC they say, which is disappointing.

Assuming you don't do wild things with the strap, I think 6 months is too short. Maybe you are in bad luck, you had a bad strap. There is a no warranty policy on straps, OK. Maybe you should up to a bracelet, they last forever. I myself don't like rubber straps anyway, your experience adds to this argument.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

    Hi there,

Wow this is fast is it original IWC?

I'm using a IWC Aquatimer/GST rubberstrap for more then 2 years on my every day watch. Only wear I can see is on the tiny bands that's holding down the end of the strap.

    Kind regards,

PS my watch is showing more wear after 2 years than the rubberband :)

Mine has 3 years on the same rubber and no appreciable wear on the strap. I wear this watch, on average, two times per week.

The caustic chemicals contained in a persons sweat varies greatly between individuals.

I have a rubber strap for the GTS (3536) that is at least 5 years old and the rubber strap on my Yacht Club Chrono is 1,5 year old and still looks like new.

Sounds as if something was wrong with the strap, does not sound like ordinary IWC quality.

    Regards
    Michael

because of this topic i just came up with idea:why not to use "nylon ply" to add life to the rubber bracelet(like tires in the cars)dont know if iwc use this material
