    Hi forum friends,

The Santoni strap arrived, even a bit sooner than expected. I really really like it and think it certainly is worth the premium:
    * the colors: in this beautiful November sunlight, it looks a bit lighter than when wearing it inside, but the Santoni people did a great job!
    * finishing: is suberb as you would aspect, the orange backside is a nice detail too (as with the inside of their shoes)
    * no surprise either, but the size is also 100% conform IWC strap sizes: I ordered the Xtra Short BD (Deployant) version, which has exactly the same size as the original.

    Enjoy the pictures, regards,

    Bob

PS: to be clear, I ordered the dark brown, the top one in the last picture I took form a dealer book a while ago

    Absolutely stunning Bob.

Most happy for you that it arrived in time to still qualify for you as your St.Nickolaas gift....so still sufficient time between now and Christmas for you to be able to motivate a Christmas gift too :~)

Wear it in good health and great happiness.

    Best regards
    Mark

    Bob -

Very nice - I wonder if Santoni will ever make a strap for the Big Pilot?

It just looks fantastic, it not being very dark, but dark enough, makes it show the details very nice. Enjoy, Bob!

I am not sure about the lug size of the Portuguese Automatic: is it the same as the Big Pilot? I guess that would answer Tracy's question. And another options shows very nicely: apparently you could also order the Milanese mesh bracelet for the Portuguese Automatic? Both the Santoni and the mesh showing on the same page in the catalogue suggests this.

Which makes me mention, sigh, again: why not publish the lug/buckle size of the watch in the catalogue or here on the site, which makes playing around with straps/bracelets so much easier, to everybody's benefit.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

To Bob, Happy Xmas love from Bob.

Now the suggestion I made that some member of the family might treat you to the 8 day Portofino in RG obviously, how did that go down?

That looks terrific, Bob. One of my favorite watches, and a strap that I loved when I saw it in person. Great combination!

Bob. Really love the way it looks in the sun. The Santoni strap compliments the beautiful dial color (forget what they call that color) and luster of the white gold.

    All the best.

Hi Paul, well the lug/strap sizes are easy to find in the weeber.biz site, showing the original dealer book pages!

Fabulous addition. I really like it. I am interested to know in six to twelve months what these marvelous straps will look like with age.

    Hi Bob,

Thank you, I tried it, like on the 5004 and 5001. The size of the straps for these watches is the same! Alas, the new watches I looked for, like the 5101 (Portofino 8 days handwound) were not in it, I guess this Weeber site needs some updating. The info on one place, like here at this site, would be a bit more handy. But I shouldn't complain too much, for myself I am happy with the watches as I have them.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

That looks beautiful on that watch, Bob! I've had these straps "lurking" in the back of my mind since I had the opportunity to try one on with one of the new Portofinos. I think it would look great on my VC Ingenieur and may indulge for Christmas present to myself! Thanks for bringing me closer to the brink! LOL!

That strap looks absolutely brilliant in the autumn sunlight as does the watch. I would even go as far as to say that this should be the default strap on the WG Portuguese Automatic. Thanks for posting.

    Kind regards,

Very nice, it looks great on your watch. I've seen one of these on the Portofino HW and was blown away.
