    Hello,
I just visited my local boutique and I was comparing my Portuguese
hand-wound IW545409 with the new eight days IW510204

It seems that "Schaffhausen" got much smaller on the new dial do you know why?
What do you think about the two watches? given the similarity and that
I already have the 545409 does it make sense to go for the 510204 ?
    Here are some photos.
    Thanks for letting me know!

Both watches are beautiful, the new handwound is more versatile with the date that doesn't ruin the classic dial: some magic happened here in Schaffhausen. If you truly like this watch, think that you will like it in a few months time, and you take a different dial colour, then it makes sense in my book to have both. As far as the smaller Schaffhausen: I don't know why, both versions look nice enough. Good luck deciding!

    Kind regards,
    Paul

Thanks for your reply ! I am also considering to find a 545406 that would have a totally different look (ardoise dial) but tempted about the year of the dragon automatic. It cost a bit more but it would at least be a different portuguese so some thinking to be done at this end !

In my opinion the 545409 Boutique LE is a fabulous watch retaining the 'Jones' movement, and is my grail watch. Congratulations.

In my view, the rule for all Portuguese dials should be less is more, where possible.

    David,
many thanks for your comments! so perhaps, since I already have the 545409, it wouldn't make sense to get the 545406 (which is the same but with the ardoise dial?)

I like the 510204 too but it feels different than my 545409 yes is visually very similar.

The boutique is also offering me the year of the dragon portuguese automatic but I am not totally sure. It will be at least something very different so perhaps it would work better in a rotation but I really like the manual - purist version too :)

    Rave,
thanks for your comments. Between 545406 (hand wound ardoise dial) 510204 and year of the dragon which would you go for ? :)

    Thanks
    Christian

Hi Christian, as you already have a fantastic dress watch in the 545409, how about going for a rugged every day wear watch.

I bought the IWC 545409 for my wife as the elegance only reflects it truly on a woman's arm wrist. Since she wears the watch it is amazing how it attracts the eyes from other people as it is usual for a woman to wear such a large watch, but this Portuguese IWC is just the most beautiful watch from IWC.
