I have just bought my second IWC. A Pilots UTC. This is the TZ (Mark XV) version which I bought new from an AD in Wellington New Zealand. I got a good deal on the watch in a sale at Partridges. Thanks Andrew.

I will post pictures when I take delivery. This is my second IWC to go with the Pilots XVI on strap which I purchased earlier in the year.

I also tried on the new ceramic Top Gun. This was NZ $19K ( yes that was the quoted price inc NZ GST ). I was told that they already had a deposit on it but it is out of my league. Very light on the wrist and a beautiful watch if anyone is interested.

Looking forward to the new watch. I prefer the size of this generation of watches (39mm) to the new larger watches. I guess IWC are following the fashion as the classic Rolex explorers have both increased in size in the new version

Congratulations on your new purchase. Great watch. Looking forward to the photos.
Although 'larger' watches are becomming more fashionable, IWC can't be seen as 'following the fashion'. It would be more accurately described as the definer of the large watch generation. The 5000 Portuguese 7-day with a 42mm case was released almost 13 years ago. This set the standard that other brands have been chasing ever since.

Actually, it was 19 years ago with the release of the Jubilee Portugieser in 1993 at 42mm (although Audemars tied that with its Royal Oak Offshore in the same year). That really restarted the big watch trend, which the industry has followed.

    You're right,of course,Michael. The 5441 was definately the ground-breaker.
We seem to have left AP behind from that point. Their designers appear to be about as imaginative as the team at Rolex..

Guys. I stand corrected on the following the fashion part. It would still be nice to have a smaller watch in the new Pilots range as they start at 41mm now.

I love the bracelet on the new watch.

My second (and as soon as I can) model will be definitelly Portofino Chrono !

Funny enough, being a real pilot, I'm not a huge admirer of Pilot watches, except for IWC !

Breitling models, for example, don't sing to me ;)

Good choice and enjoy yours !

Your text to link here...Here are the photos. Apologies for the poor quality. The watch came in the latest packaging so I think it must have been one of the last ones shipped from the factory.picasaweb.google.com/113757604601158916589/20120913#
