    Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how to date a watch from the serial number.

I have just received my new AT chrono, which was on order from the end of march. But it has a much lower serial number than a AT auto which was first delivered and returned due to a fault.

Both watches were ordered from the factory, yet the later watch's serial is much lower than the first, even though there is 6 weeks difference in the ordering of the watches.

On a postive note so far so happy.

    cheers Mikey

    Serial Numbers question

Watch production works not like car factory (incoming orders). A bigger amount of some models are parallel in production at a fixed time. Then follow different models. If the ordered watch is on stock, you will get it very fast, otherwise you have to wait, until the next production cycle for your watch.

    Regards

    Heiko

    Serial Numbers question

As far as dating goes, i noticed a date on the white ID sticker on the outside of the outermost box (cardboard box) that my BP came in. I'm not sure if it is a manufacture date or a ship date but it appears to have been applied before it left Schaffhausen. I'm not looking at it right now but I believe the sticker also listed article number and case number. Hope this helps.
