Seriously, we need to stop the moving car photos

As much as it's been fun, and there have been some really good photos, the last thing I would want is an accident.

One UK member wrote me (with some minor edits by me): [i]

Let's stop the photos in the car before someone by himself tries it and has an accident. I do not care whether members are cruising at 10kph or 100kph it's an accident looking to happen.

In the UK get caught using a phone whilst driving and it's a fine and points against your licence and more than one person has been sent to jail. The metadata that is recorded in the photos will be there if any forum members are themselves killed. It will not take the Police long to see a bunch of photos showing watches cars and the like to realise what is going on...

I have had someone step out in front of me. His head smashed the windscreen, bent the wiper and I pinned him to the ground using the front offside wheel on his ankle. I was doing less than 30 kph and from "See him to hit him" was a clap your hands twice as fast as you can. No, I was not using a phone and, no, I was not using a camera and I use the radio CD by touch and my phone is automatically hands free.

All previous postings may have had two in the car with a driver posing with his watch. Someday, though, someone will be by themselves. ... For God's sake we are supposedly intelligent people but we really are doing some pretty dumb things all for the sake of this forum.... the last photo in the post proved what happens when people drive too fast, take their eyes off the road or are not paying attention, we all call it an accident. Courts might decide it was criminal negligence or worse.

Honestly, he's right. As moderator we can't have any liability here --either legally or morally. The last thing any of us want is an accident.

Because I can't deleted nested posts except one at a time, with often some significant time gaps. I would think it would take me more than a few hours because the software is slow and I would need to delete most of them one-by-one.

your UK phantom writer is taking this way too seriously. We all were just pulling Nad's leg and teasing him about the "Nad" shot. It's called a sense of humor.

The point I was making, was by all means take photos of your car or your watch or your plane boat or train. But stick to driving a car whilst not taking photos as some people owned up to doing it.

In a fraction of a second you have had an accident and thats all it takes and your cameras will be the give away that you were not concentrating on driving. You will not have a legal leg to stand on in the UK and in all probability you could wind up mega £ or $ worse off as the Insurance might well be void plus all the ramifications of civil action and damages.

In 1994 the sound of someones head hitting the screen was a thwack rather than a thud.
Skin peeled back on the ankle reminded me of an orange being peeled with the peel hanging off.
He was a "walking wounded" until 30 minutes later when he collapsed in hospital and went into convulsions
and the impact was at about 30kph.

I am not pro political correctness nor am I a lover of nanny state but dangerous or reckless activities if that is what floats your boat are best done where any resultant damage does not involve third parties. By the way where are the medical, legal and Insurance professionals in this debate because I do not notice any loud clear and unequivocal warning from a declared professional in these fields.

Safe driving and enjoy your watches and try and keep them seperate please. Thats all I ask.

Hi Greg, glad you posted....

I think your heart is in the right place and I am glad you came forward. But I must tell you that I think your assessment of our fun with Nad was taken way too literally. In each case we all, I think, were poking fun at Nad and his legendary photo essay talents. Whether by back seat camera assistant, tripod, photoshop or whatever, the aim was to have a little fun, be creative and get an IWC watch or two in the limelight.
The last thing we need is lawyers (like me), medical professionals or insurance experts citing what should be patently obvious to every logical thinking person.
This is supposed to be fun. Or at least I thought so.
Sorry, but I think Nicky's post was really right on point. She pointed out the obvious result of stupidity in a very funny way.

but, with respect for your opinion...

...and that of others, including Isobars, I believe that we still all can concur that reasonable people can differ here. That fact, in and of itself, in turn changes the paradigm.

That said --please, let's now talk watches. IWC watches.
