One guess is that some inherent movement problems should be fixed during the complete

maybe we should stop being sycophantic to these big watch corporations and not buy their watches.

Hi Leo
I managed to miss this post. Just sent you an email. Many thanks in advance :-)
This is a thread from a forum that I frequent more often.

I wonder why is IWC having such a bad reputation. And apparently quite widespread.
It has not changed at all. IWC or Richemont forces you into full service when you only need a minor repair. It happened to me in 2018 and now in 2026 they are again forcing me into a full service. I sent the watch to Ben Bridge in Bellevue WA USA in November because a pin on the ss watch band broke. A new strap is around $500. That I am ok with. But they are recommending a full service for a Mark 12 that is keeping perfect time. Staff at Ben Bridge said they don't know if IWC will only replace the strap. And I was thinking of getting an IWC ceramic. There must be a law in the US that says a business cannot force a customer to buy a service he doesn't want.
Hi Darryl.
If you register (https://www.iwc.com/au-en/specials/my-iwc) your watch, you will have overall 8 years Warranty on your watch, perhaps this could help.
As Tilo mentioned, if this is not covered from Warranty, you only can do the necessary service and not the full one.

The IWC dealer Ben Bridge told me they are not sure IWC will repair or replace the band without the service. The watch is a Mark 12 and 30 yrs old so way out of warranty. Thanks
