The weekend after Monza is always the Goodwood Revival in the South of England. A former World War 2 airfield, Goodwood was one of the homes of British motor racing until the mid-60s when it fell into decay. Restored by Lord Marsh, Goodwood comes to life every September when the feature race is dominated by Ferrari 250 GTOs, E-type Jaguars, Aston Martins, Cobras and other great sports cars. What makes the Revival such a great event is the rule that pre-1965 cars race in a variety of classes. Everybody dresses in clothes of the period. The air show involves Spitfires, Hurricanes, Mustangs and the occasional B17 or Lancaster.

While millions of pounds worth of cars race with ferocious competitiveness, the car parks provide some amazing sights. Sadly, I do not own a car of the period but I do have something with an IWC connection. It's an early start tomorrow. I topped up the fluids and set the sat nav this afternoon. Although I was wearing my CFI (with matching Ardoise dial for the car),it is totally unsuitable for tomorrow. I have worn a 666 in the past but tomorrow I am looking at something different.

I'm very envious, I wish I could be at Goodwood myself.
It would be very nice if you would post some photos.

    Cheers!

Ralph, for sure you are going to be having a rave of a time down there at Goodwood tomorrow. And no doubt - the watch you will be wearing will be spot on.

On a second note - I note that makes two of us "close" to
Marilyn this month ...what can I say Rave? Man you've got impeccable taste!

    Thanks for sharing.

Sure you enjoyed an impressive weekend at the Goodwood Revival, Ralph (Commander Ralph, RN(R)?! :-)

I have not been to the Goodwood revival yet but visited the Beaulieu Museum and Fair some time ago in 95 during a trip to Scotland with 2 friends and our cars.
The XK 120 is from 53, my GT 330 from 64 and the AH Mk III from 66. I took part in Kitzbuehl 1994. Well, time flies. ;-)

    Hajo,

What a fantastic set of cars! I like the Austin Healey a lot, and my great grandfather had a couple of XK (120 and 150 if my memory doesn't fail), but your Ferrari V12 is a fantastic piece of automobile engineering. Do you still have it?

    Congratulations!

    Aloha Hajo -

I didn't know that you're Tifosi too? (LOL)

If you ever visit Hawaii we can visit my mechanic who has a rare 330 under a tarp.

I just saw on MSN the photos from the Goodwood Revival, looked as though it was great fun, were any IWCs spotted in the wild?

    Aloha Tracy,

I only found these cars under a shed besides a Canoe Club shorewards a lava beach. (LOL)
