Went to see the new Bond film Skyfall today and there just before the film was the IWC New Capaign Video. Being one of those sad types I was barely able to contain myself. I was waiting for "at a dealer nowhere near this cinema" since my AD was dropped. Looks good on the big screen though. As for the Bond film itself, it's up to par and more. No spoilers from me.

Thanks Greg for the no spoilers..it doesn't debut here in the U.S. until early November but am looking forward to it. Love the 007 series. Now if only James "gadget man" would hook up a very special limited edition IWC on his wrist.....1/007

    How cool would that be,

+1 Andy, but I can never get IWC videos to work in mainland China.

Unlikely. Bond is a Rolex (Roger Moore) or Omega man, depending on which brand is willing to pay the most for product placement. I haven't seen Skyfall yet but the product placement in the two previous Craig films was a joke. I would like to think the IWC brand would not resort to Bond folms for product placement.

Agent 007 is part of the collective imaginary and, in a way or another, his watches recur in many watch topics.

Nonetheless my efforts, I don't understand, just for instance, the connection between watches and Zidane or Louis Figo.

I must confess also, I found myself hoping for the Plastiki to sink, more than once... LOL!

With no harm to the poor/rich guy on board.

there was a Skyfall premiere in Singapore last night, and those I spoke to loved the movie. really looking forward to catching it here.

on product placements, well personally I think that's commercial reality, even if we find it distasteful or incongruous. Omega was revitalized and prospered under Jean-Claude Biver's reign and I think, corrections welcome, the product placement was initiated by him - Omega is quite a different brand now as compared with before - with sales tripling ?

sales being high and/or commercial marketing - these can go hand-in-hand with what (I think) collectors want - creating iconic watches: not in all pieces, but in one or a few or some pieces now and then. what constitutes 'iconic' well - that is a big can of worms indeed.

    I completely agree, Roberto.
