Here, in the forum, we can read in some cases some mixed views on the current trend for watches with a wider case diameter (up to 46 mm) and for watches with a larger case height (up to 15.2 mm). There was a previous excellent post on this trend on diameter (I cant find it though).
However, there are also some (non-midsize) examples with case diameters in the smaller 39 mm range (closer to the good old days) and case heights as small as 8.6 mm.
This is really a wonderful range for potential IWC owners - what a collection on offer.
My personal tastes seem to change with time - from the vintage smaller and thiner to some "fatties" like the GST Aquatimer to thoroughly appreciating the VC Aquatimer, VC Ingenieur and also the VC Portofino and VC Portuguieser.
The VC Portofino Moonphase perhaps has one of the largest ratios of case diameter to case width (46/11) that I am aware of..... I dont have time to get my calculator out for all models , but regardless of the current trend towards larger diameter watches, I seem to be able to adapt my taste to take into consideration all features of the watch, in addition to diameter and width - for full appreciation.
Just some thoughts
