You may ask whether a chronograph is "really" haute horologie and, truth be told, it really is. One expert once told me that almost none of the independent watchmakers --perhaps with the notable exception of Halter and Journe-- make chronographs. There is a reason for that. Chronographs are difficult to design construct, and set-up. We shouldn't underestimate what IWC has accomplished with its inhouse chromos.
