As some of you know, following the Collector’s diner on Thursday night of SIHH week Alan Ross and I took a road trip. Despite my long love affair with IWC watches I had never been to Schaffhausen so this year I was determined to see it in the flesh, not just through Shing’s excellent photo blog. After receiving my invite to SIHH I contacted Alan and inquired if he would be interested in joining me on a road trip to Zurich and then on to Schaffhausen.
DR. David Seyfer, curator of the IWC Museum, was very helpful in setting time aside on Friday afternoon to give Alan and I a personal tour of the Museum and he and Oliver Siegle gave us some very interesting insights to the exhibit. Seeing Mark’s Black Beauty on display was also a special moment as I had not seen it before.
Later in our visit Hannes Pantli, Member, Board of Directors IWC arranged for us to visit and observe master watch maker Hansjorg Kittlas as he assembled a grand complication. We were not allowed to take photos in the assemble shop but Herr Kittlas did pose with us outside the room.
Friday night we returned to Zurich to a special dinner at a famous local restaurant that Alan remembered from a previous visit so I’ve added a couple of Nad food shots.
Saturday, Alan and I spent the day walking up and down the Bahnhofstrasse with a special stop at the recently open IWC Boutique. All the staff was very pleasant and excited to see Alan’s Blue BPP.

We had a great time on our road trip and if you haven't made it to Schaffhausen make sure you put it on your bucket list.
