Seems that beside opening the CF3 Tonny opened the Pandora box. :)

Let's summarize the initial message: Every watch brand and watchmaker on earth is proud to decorate the watch movement and everybody does it, most certainly in price range of IWC. IWC stopped this tradition with this movement to save costs, no reason other than that. But we are talking here about a luxury product (luxury is something you don't necessary need, like a nice finish on a movement..). If you like it like this, good for you, but it is a fact that this level of finishing is below industry standard (also for watches without display back) and for me unfortunately a (wanted) decrease in quality.

The discussion is really ment as constructive criticism as I for myself would not buy such a watch, the beauty and love of detail spent on the movement is a big part of the charm of a mechanical watch.

I thought the initial message was Tonny taking pics of the anti magnetic cage and the movement for us to enjoy. Both of which look cool to me. If it had a see through back I can see the discussion about decoration having relevance. It doesn't so it ends there for me.

5 weeks from picking mine up. God the time is going slowly. Still I'm 3 weeks away from starting the holiday so it's not all bad....

    Cheers,

    Jarrod

Completely agree.. The arguments about function are completely missing the point.. If it truly was about function, we would buy buying $200 G-Shocks or quartz watches.. When spending > $10,000 on a novelty item such as this, it's an expectation (at least for me) that things like the movement are unnecessarily decorated to look beautiful, even if I can't see it (I know it's there)..

I don't buy the function argument at all.. It's clearly be apologetic to IWC. As collectors (I am one), we need to send a clear message to IWC that this is unacceptable.. By accepting this and apologizing for it, IWC will continue to do it which will just water the brand down even more..

Well, the problem is, I don´t know which segment is planned for IWC in the Richemont Group for the future and I am not fitting to the prefered customer profile since some years.

Too much bling bling stuff and leaving the roots.

So, I have already made my decision about modern IWC and can spent money for vintages :-)
