“The CFA : Maybe a wild idea, but with some good arguments” that was the last sentence of my proposal to IWC for a new collectors watch early 2016 But it started in fact even years before, in 2005 IWC surprised us with a watch, especially made for the collectors.I still have great memories of the event some of us had in  Antwerp, with Kurt Klaus, when we received our CFI./site_media/ckeditor_images/6c379622b165ce35cc894fa35efb5e63.jpg/site_media/ckeditor_images/67b9d372d310a051878563d93bd761ba.jpgSo, back to 2016, the idea grew to start thinking of the next collectors forum watch. A bit early, but with the 150th anniversary of IWC in 2018 with lots of projects and the move to the new factory, 2018 would be too busy, so I started my plan in 2016.I wrote down my ideas for a new CF watch, made my email to Schaffhausen and…fingers crossed. With the support of Walter Volpers, Associate Director Product Management Techniques of IWC, the project started.I saw an interview with Walter where he explained what this title means ; “What is the role of the Product Manager Technics at IWC?
To put it simply, I bring the dream to the wrist. More specifically, this means that when we have an idea we put it down on paper and from that moment on I am responsible for all the steps required to bring the watch into production.”

Well, together with his team, the design team, they came with the first computer renderings that I was happy to show the collectors as a surprise during SIHH2017.The dream was one step closer to reality./site_media/ckeditor_images/09c85bb8925e2d8dd69260f9a383afd6.jpg/site_media/ckeditor_images/01705b56cfbd72b9c941d508248dff2e.jpgDuring the Bill Barker GTG in Amsterdam, Walter again had a surprise ; the first 3D printed prototypes were there to see./site_media/ckeditor_images/d9e566666273222c44a5b7bd4ad3e1f1.jpg

Best regards,

Tonny,

Thank you not only for creating the wonderful CF4, but also sharing with us how this dream/ideas of yours become a reality step-by-step.

I have not received my CF4 yet, but I already know I will be proud of owning one.

Thanks also for giving us yet another surprise by asking IWC to put a blue screw in the movement.  Nice touch!

I love it Tonny!

Congratulations to you, my friend, and thanks for having the inspiration to push for the CF4 in the first place as well as sharing its origin with us.

We are privileged to be part of a community where initiatives like CF editions and charitable contributions are supported by IWC. Thanks to IWC, as well, for making this a reality.

There’s so much about this model that ticks boxes for me. I hope you don’t mind me gushing and sharing:
[]This Aquatimer oozes IWC engineering prowess: Pellaton automatic winding, quick-change bracelet, rotating bezel with SafeDive system.
[
]The mix of materials: bronze, titanium, ceramic, and rubber.
[]A newly introduced in-house movement with a see-through case back.
[
]That deep and uncluttered Aquatimer dial - I really get lost in that.
[]It includes a date disc with a font that matches the bezel font.
[
]That famous vibrant Aquatimer two-tone lume.
[]Limited edition numbering, with a special # request made possible!
[
]And now, the blue screw... added as a symbolic mark of our charitable contributions.
I can’t wait for mine!

I can't even begin to tell you how much I wish I could get in on this action, Tonny, but alas my discretionary income has been all but decimated by the needs of two growing children, coupled with the horrifying living costs in Manhattan. (Picking up the SWFA while in Geneva for SIHH didn't help matters much, either...)

My SOB story nothwithstanding, the CF4 itself is nothing less than amazing.  I remember talking to you about the watch relatively early in its development, so to see it now, finished and in all its glory is a wonderful thing indeed.  Congratulations my friend, and to everyone who took the plunge, enjoy your stunning watches!

Regards,
Adam
