Hi everyone! I love the new MarkXVIII, to me pretty much is perfect. The watch is so elegant and classy and features a lot of the the original dial aspects that I personally think should never change. The dial takes you back reminding you of the classic version and with the gorgeous sword hands while having the date window going back to a clean looking box at the 3 o clock position, is just perfect!
I've literally grew-up around this brand and I've always had passion for it. Finally after so long saving through-out college, rewarded myself with a MarkXVIII while in grad school.
I've also had the opportunity to get to know some wonderful guys all because of this forum. I want to encourage others on this forum to join us on Instagram also. Please add me if your interested! cheers!
Greetings Kyle This is a great Forum and the people you meet are the best you can wish for. Hopefully you can make it to a legendary GTG at the NYC Flagship or the fantastic BBAMSGTG in Amsterdam or an SIHH or something. Due to this Forum, I have friends all over the world and and wherever I travel, you can be assured an IWC GTG is going to happen.
We look forward to seeing you in Toronto whenever you can make it.
In regards to the date window, there have been a lot of reviews and complaints about the movement not being ETA but Sellita and that the date window did not fit the dial and is closer to the center. I actually researched this and can confirm that the movement is ETA 2892 top grade and modified by IWC and that the date is the same exact as it was in the previous version. What IWC did was change the hour marker size and made it smaller so it looks like the date is really off center!
Yes I definitely agree the ETA movement in MarkXVIII pilot is ETA top grade. Hodinkee did an extensive review on it and they confirmed it's actually not Sallita but ETA. I have absolutely no problem with the date window and where it's positioned, I think the watch is fantastic in every way!
