Hello. I just registered today and completed the introduction post earlier.

I have an IWC Schaffhausen watch, with a Certificate of Authenticity from IWC dated 4 October, 2018. The watch  has a delivery date of 4 July, 1971. The case is 18 ct. yellow gold, #1754028, with a yellow gold bracelet. Other details, which I don’t fully understand, are:

    • The movement is nickel plated, circular grained, Geneva stripes automatic.
    • Cal. 8541, 12.5 lig, H 5.9
    • 25 jewels
    • Breguet spring
    • Hand setting à Tirage
    • Oscillation 19’800 per hour

Hopefully someone can explain to me what some of those mean, since I’m not knowledgeable in this field.

I believe this watch has a very interesting back-story, which I’ll leave for a later post.

    Cheers,
    Jammer

Welcome to the forum, a very cool vintage IWC you have there. I was thinking that it was a gold version of Tonny's ref. 1871, but I see now that it is different. It may be a Ref.1160AD. Beautiful, and I love that it is on the bracelet. Post some more photos if you will.

Thanks for getting in touch, Ben. I’ll post more pictures when I’m back home.

Not knowing what all the numbers mean in the Certificate, I neglected to put the Ref. Number, which is 1160. Well spotted.

    Cheers
