There are two boxes under the tree and a third to collect. Two are watch collection boxes of reasonable looks and cost and the third box is my fourth IWC which is to be collected next week.
Current collection is made up of two Portuguese in steel 3714, 5001 and one pilot chrono 3717.
The incoming has box papers and extract and waa made in the 1990s and is in YG which will make a nice change to the steel models. So it's a watch for high days rather than holidays or everyday, a reveal will happen late next week!
So Andrew is not the only one who can tease!

Whilst waiting for the collection and then the reveal, I wish all true forumers a Merry Xmas and a good, prosperous and healthy new year.

Hey Greg - I hope you will get up early in the morning so that you are able to open your boxes and share with us here your new collection.

    Merry Christmas.

Have patience, not till I collect the third box, that's why I am so keen to drive 350 miles for and I can hardly do that without notice and by mutual agreement from a private seller. By the way I will stick to the speed limit or try to, unlike someone who collected a beautiful original Portofino Moonphase and a couple of speeding tickets in the process, from memory his journey was over 800km!
Even have to take my wife on the trip! The seller has more than one IWC so he may even belong to the forum, past or present. If he does and reads this, sssh!

Hello Greg, drive safely. Hmm, yellow gold and from the 90ties, that makes me curious. Btw, for the price of a speeding ticket, you have a nice iwc strap, so...

Drive safe, and the ticket is not worth speeding, like Tonny said, you can get à nice strap instead!

    Hi Greg,

When u mentioned over email u were picking it up at that other city I had not computed the distance - drive safe !

Looking forward to the safe pickup, drive back, and ensuing forum post. I too will join u in making two inbound announcements over the next four weeks :)

The trip begins 11am Wednesday and the traffic will be hopefully better than today, took my brother in law to his care home, 80 miles each away, total time five frustrating hours. Memo to self, do not use the orbital motorway to the east side of London again.

7 hours 26 minutes driving, 364 miles, speed from zero to 70 mph average speed due to mobile car park on London's orbital motorway only 49 mph. The seller is a forum member so we had a mini gtg. Then a quick trip to his work room where all sorts of things no doubt happen and then it was time to go. Camera was in my car but taking photos in someones house who you have never met is not really the done thing. The reveal is still to follow.....

I am having problems with my broad band connection so this is going to be in small chunks rather than a Nad travelogue!
Three boxes, two of which were watch boxes for 6 each

So I have stated that it was from the 1990s however the extract clearly states 1988 which has got me confused as the extract matches the watch but I am getting ahead of myself.
So in goes my small collection of IWCs in order of purchase

I have stated it was for high days rather than everyday or holidays and that It was in YG. I am my own man with conservative tastes and sometimes I like to do a bit of pot stirring and not follow the trend. The trend is big watches are in and smaller watches are not part of the current collection and everything is heading to be 40mm+. Well I wanted a watch for when big was not required and although that is covered by another brand I wanted an IWC and I spied this.

    i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x456/GregChalk/DSC_4527.jpg

    Gilded 8541
    i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x456/GregChalk/DSC_4523.jpg

With factory strap and buckle, but getting a short strap for use
    i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x456/GregChalk/DSC_4530.jpg

And the front view at long last
    i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x456/GregChalk/DSC_4536.jpg

Now can anyone explain why the extract says 1988 and yet I understand the model was from 1994?
