Am I the only one who looks for types of timepieces worn by actors in movies?
I find it interesting to try to identify what's on the wrists of folks on screen.
How about the rest of you all?
Cheers

Oh Yes!!
It's got to the point where my wife asks me after the most fleeting of glimpses "What's the watch?"
And she expects me to know!
But of course...who isn`t ?
I`m a big fan of "now pay attention, 007" but unfortunately...
on the other hand,who knows...
Movie and watch both made in Switzerland (the movie partially I admit)in 1964:
Oh definitely agree. I remember when I was watching whatever the fourth installment of the Bourne series is called (the one with Jeremy Renner) and when my eyes registered the Pilot Perpetual Calendar he was wearing my brain was thinking "did I just see a PPC on his wrist? Is he really wearing a PPC while he's blowing stuff up and running through the arctic wasteland?"
While I must say the Pilot series is my fourth favorite series of IWC watches (Ingenieur>Portuguese>Aquatimer>Pilot>Portofino) I thought it was a great way of incorporating it into the movie. There weren't any blatant product shots of it but for people that pay attention to watches (and especially IWC fans) - it was a very pleasant, inconspicuous, but very "is that for real?" surprise for people who recognized it haha.
Interesting question. I note the watch James Bond wears in a film, but I could care less about the watch Sean Connery or Daniel Craig wear in their respective private lives.
Does this make any sense? ;-)
Indeed, like Francis says - I think most of us watch afficionados do.
Small correction though, Jeremy Renner did not wear a Pilot Perpetual but rather the Pilot Double Chronograph Top Gun IW3799 ;-)
Haha that makes much more sense. I was always wondering why he would be wearing a perpetual calendar with moon phase. Although having a moon phase might be helpful for when he needs to sneak into somewhere during high tide.
Maybe we can expect that for Bourne #17
The man approves...
Yes, I find it very interesting to spot IWC watches in films. A good example to me is Kevin Spacy in "House of Cards".
Cheeers Chris
Watching Red with Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman and I spotted this.
Jason Statham's character in the MEG and his Aquatimer was unmistakably IWC.
Not a film but the Top Gun Miramar Pilot's Chronograph and the Aquatimer "La
Cumbre" (the one Jason Statham wears in The Meg) are seen in the TV series
"The Last Ship"
I have to watch that movie again to spot his watch.
Vanilla Sky
Just spotted a Big Pilot on Adam Drivers wrist in This is Where I Leave
You.
Jason Statham in The Mechanic 2 wearing an IW3580-02 Aquatimer 2000
Question: do these actors have to wear these timepieces per their film
contract or wear it cause they like it and are free to wear whatever they
like?
As watches as well as clothes are a characteristic of a character, the film's
production team makes the artistic decision about what a character/actor
wears. Of course this can be influenced by sponsoring/product placement.
I guess, the actor himself can make suggestions, but final decision has the
production team (Production Design or Costume).
