Welcome back & thanks for the report, Michael.
Great story Micheal, thanks! nt
MF, welcome back! There have been very few >>>>
..........sales people that I have met at the ADs I have visited, that are remotely passionate about watches and actually know the various models they sell.
I sometimes want to tell them "just leave me alone to look", because they are adding NOTHING to my shopping experience.
I must admit though, there have been some that were a true pleasure to talk to and share views and opinions on different models.
Thanks for taking the time for the detailed report!
Cheers :-)
Thank you Michael
very nice chronicle. Great to have you back.

and thanks for sharing your experiences.
An interesting tale to boot.
Nice report but a rather criticical review...
... of the boutique. It even hurts a bit reading about the opening line and the serius lack of knowledge. Hope they read this too and learn from it, but changes are they don''t know about the forum too...
It's not easy on the road........
Wasn't meant to be; Las Vegas is different....
...than the rest of the world in many ways. There are a lot of tire kickers, bored with gambling, who constantly stroll in and out of many of the stores. It would be difficult to "engage" in any meaningful way most of these "just looking" people in a such a high traffic envronment.
Also, unlike stores in many other places, I suspect Las Vegas generally doesn't do a lot of "repeat" business" with "regulars". I suspect many "regulars" to the city visit once or perhaps twice a year, if they go that frequently, and the more frequent visitors are less shoppers. That's just a guess.
Also, in many instances good retail sales clerks in Las Vegas might be difficult to find --it often isn't the highest paid profession and some of the best move on. The hours are horrendous --some stores are open to midnight, plus all holidays. Still, I know some really good ones --but if they're not store owners they often have been in the business a long time.
The store actually did somethings right --the salesperson knew that the 5004 wasn't made in platinum except for the Father & Son model (not everyone knows that). And suggesting the platinum Portofino was clever --after all, it was an expensive piece but not out-of-sight, and he could downsell to steel. And, finally, the inventory was superb.
Regards,
Michael
Inventory has improved.... I was there in early ..
Feb and after being in Schaffhausen in Jan I was not impressed. In comparison, the two boutiques in Hong Kong were chock full of interesting watchjes but of course nothing from 2009.
I don't think I would have shown such restraint.
I get very frustrated when I meet salesmen with a poor knowledge of their products. Maybe the sales come too easy in a town like Vegas. Thanks for the report.
