When searching the Archive we usually use search terms like "ingenieur", "8541" or "MF" but others are more obscure.

This week we search for "Zwyro"

    Nikator's watch

    https://www.iwc.com/member/forum/search_all.asp?table=archives&sMessage=Zwyro&archived=yes&id=16001

Hans' example, both dial and movement

    And some history by Hans

    My feelings are contradictory

I'm used to think about cal 89 as tough, essential, very rationally designed.

Looking at these Zwyro types, I can admire the artwork on the bridges and the nice effect the gold covering creates but it gives me also a weird feeling, like something "out of place". Just my impression.

Thank You Greg for another interesting Tour.

    Regards,

    Roberto

    mine too...

...but one of my concerns is that the engraving, to be frank and not to offfend any owner, is somewhat "heavy-handed". It is not by my standards graceful or like some of the better skeleton work that I see (say by Vacheron).

I view this is a historical curiosity and an interesting rarity, but to me it is not great artistry. If IWC proposed producing something like it today, I would have mixed feelings at best.

    Regards,
    Michael
