    A little mystery ....

    Who was F. Theurer?
Ans why was he presented with the watch?

I don't know the answer but maybe someone will.

    Cheers from the cellar

    Indeed Bill

I did a bit of a research and it seems that F Theurer was responsible for developing the railway tracks in Greece back then.
There is even today a company called Plasser & Theurer on the same business. Of course there was never a Greek King George V, I believe this was the British King who was very closely related to King George of Greece.

    Thank you for the research

    Hi Argiris,

Developing the railways certainly seems worthy of an IWC engraved watch from a king, Thanks again for you efforts.

    Cheers from the cellar

I never made a closer search on teh name F.Theuer,
I just was impressed to have a "King's gift" in my collection.

    regards
