Hi, I am new to the forum, but have been collecting IWC for years. I heard a rumor from a pretty good AD/collector ( always goes like that) that IWC has stopped taking orders on the steel black faced Port Moon? Is this because of the crown issue and changes, or are they stopping to make that model. I suspect a vintage series cannot live forever.

It is widely known that the next 'family' of IWC watches to redesigned is the Portofino line.
SIHH 2010 was the year of the Portuguese, and 2011 will be Portofino.
Maybe that's the reason for the rumor!
That would be a pity, it is a pretty watch. Technical issues can often be solved, they should not be the reason for a watch to be discontinued: a watch not being sold sufficiently is. I think it to be a pity because I like the family as a whole. The concept was both brillant and bold, whatever the results. Of course some watches you like more than others, but I do hope the rumour to be untrue, and that the whole family survives a few more years.

Certainly not because of a crown, which is easy enough to substitute if desired. I suspect that it might be due to the fact that a dealer might have to wait over a year for one, assuming he doesn't have it in stock --after all, production schedules are determined way in advance, and IWC has to be ramping up production of the 2011 Portofino models now.
