I'm wondering if there is anywhere (online or in print) where I could find a complete or near complete guide to all of the dial variations found in vintage (Mk. I) Yacht Clubs.

Obviously there's the silver dial, blue dial and grey dial. But then there are versions with sunburst dials vs. vertically brushed, gold dials, early(?) versions that seem to have lines for the minute markers rather than dots (were these all vertically brushed?), as well as a bunch of rare versions with diamond indices, and then those weird marbled blue and green ones that have been fetching inflated prices recently...

I've seen this German article here: uhren-muser.de:8080/epaper/chronohype/chrono-4/#0

That shows some interesting unusual versions but makes no attempt to be systematic or comprehensive.

First of all I would like to say that the no date type is much rarer than the model with date, same for those with a manual winding movm. that are all without date. Annexed some from my collection. The last one is a copper dial.

    Annexedsome intersting dials:

These are gorgeous, thanks for posting!

The last one (copper dial?) looks quite similar to the one in the German article that's described as having a "salmon dial" (at least in translation).

Is it safe to assume that the versions with line minute markers rather than engraved dots are early ones? All the ones I've seen pictures of that have these sorts of dials also have the broader anti-magnetic ring at the edge of the movement (as opposed to the narrower ring and the ring in the caseback instead).

This 1970 Japanese catalogue shows line marker dials in white and grey (although a gilt dial with dots): nakahiro.parfait.ne.jp/catarog1970/moji/iwc1970.html

The later 1972 catalogue only shows dot versions (and notably the standard silver/white dial version now has dots): nakahiro.parfait.ne.jp/catarog/moji/iwc1.html

Yup, there's a good thread on Omega Forums. I think I've googled as much as exists, though! In some ways this is what's interesting about brands such as IWC (as opposed to, e.g., Rolex and Omega). There's still quite a lot to be discovered and documented.

Wow, OK! I did think "his" last post (which was deleted) was a little weird.

So, part of my reason for asking was that I had a new YC coming in, which I thought might be quite unusual - it just arrived on Monday!

It's 18K gold with a grey dial - maybe the same model as the one in your second picture, Mr Bizziocchi?

Indeed a beautiful collection of Yacht Clubs, especially the (rose?) gold one with Ardoise dial caught my eye. Fantastic insight and pictures!
