    Hi everyone,
I own a golden cal 89 with a white dial and love it.
Every once in awhile I see watches with black dials for sale and wonder if these all have aftermarket dials since I cannot find black ones in any catalogues from this time period? Appreciate any expertise and information.

Yes, I've seen black dial Calibre 89s --in addition to the Mark 11 model, which of course had a black dial and caliber 89 movement.

Thank you for your swift reply.
However I was wondering about the dress watches from 1949 until the late '50's and not the Mark II. My mistake.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. When I wrote "in addition to" I meant other models beyond the Mark 11.

I have seen several black dial IWC Cal.89 watches, with dials that appear to me to be original.

Many appear to have original dials. I lusted after a square one in steel with a black dial from a Paris dealer but the price was too high. Most black dials don't even command a premium IMO even though they are less common.

This is an authentic dial, fitting for a cal. 89 as well.

Sorry, I have forgotten to clean it for the photos. Some dust on the front.

    Regards
