I wish round ceramic Da Vincis and old Novecentos (in my part, much more cult than JLC Reverso and Cartier Tank) would return as a limited edition or under some 'vintage collection 2' series!

Richard!!! What about A-R-D-O-I-S-E dials??? Did you get professional treatment ;-)

Though I must admit, your KK PPC is really really beautiful!

I'm a proud owner of KK DVPCC, Red gold with black herringbone dial. While it may not be everyone's cuppa tea, I have to see the design and execution are not only outstanding, but eye-catching. It has so much wrist presence, I say, "it enters the room before you do."

I had a good look at one today in Lucerne. I loved it. With a passion. I actually sat the wife down and told her that at some point in the future I am going to have to buy one.

Realize this is a somewhat older discussion, but I'm curious on any insight, predictions or expectations for the line that the experts here have.

I really like the Da Vinci Chrono for the reasons stated above - it's a different design and in the current configuration both elegant and stylish all at once in my opinion. I'm on the cusp of pulling the trigger on one, but of course am curious as to future revisions.

OTOH, I'm also concerned about a complete cut of the line and the possible impact on the ability to get one at all then. Any perspective on the availability of discontinued lines just after that revelation would be welcome - I'm not sure of IWC's history in this arena. Since it's a watch not carried in a lot of shops inventory, what are the chances of still being able to order one, vs. it already being cleared out of manufacturers inventory?

I know one should "never say 'never'" - but IWC will never cut the DaVinci line. It is likely the single most significant line in terms of meaningful, commercial milestones in IWC's history - albeit, not likely the current leader in sales. DaVinci, a name synonymous to "renaissance" was the line that ushered in the quartz era in the late 1960s, and it was fitting that it was the DaVinci Perpetual Calendar in the 1980s that reinvigorated the appreciation of fine, mechanical watchmaking once again - saving IWC from the brink of ruin with their huge gamble on the DaVinci Perpetual Calendar.

I know all of the limited Kurt Klaus Perpetuals, in all metals are sold out - there may only be a handful in a few boutiques or remote retailers. Likely a great position to be in, in order to introduce an updated series of SKUs in this lineup. I bet we should expect GREAT THINGS in future DaVinci models - IWC will likely pay homage to the significance the DaVinci line has played in their evolution over the last 40 years - and I would bet some special features and new designs not found in other lineups will be introduced (should it happen)....

Richard, I couldn't agree more. The IWC brands will be protected and will be revisited in the future. It is hot and sticky in the UK at the moment and I have been wearing my CFDV on trips into London this week. It is all too easy to forget how beautiful this line of watches is.

I really hope it survives. And I sincerely hope they stick with the tonneau shape, it is so unique. Fingers crossed 2015 is the Da Vinci revamp.

    Cheers,

    Richard,

You said the KK perpetual chronos in all metals are all sold out? That is amazing. Those were not inexpensive timepieces. The Tonneau case is a work of art and to anyone who professes to love only round cases, I say you need to wear a DV KKPCC for a few days to "get" the beauty, elegance, and presence of this particular watch. I owned. RM 10 for a awhile and there is no comparison.

Larry. How are things? Hope all is well.

One of the boutique associates told me that last winter. They had a steel KK, which I understand was an issue of 3000 units. I don't know whether they actually made all 3,000.... Do you think they could have stopped short? He said that the boutiques had just a few left -
