I received this IWC Pallweber pocket watch as a gift and would like to know about it. Can anyone give me some info on it? It is in working order.
When was it made?
Is it an IWC pocket watch?
What is the movement?
What kind of value does it have in this condition?
What are the various markings on it, what do they mean?

It is an IWC pocket watch, and a Pallweber one at that. You cna read about these watches on my IWC pocket watch website www.iwcpocketwatch.com/pallweber.html
I can't tell the exact date (I can't read the movement serial number) but I would guess 1885 or 1886. The movement is a so-called Elgin II, made by IWC. The circular stamp on the movement is the IWC stamp, the inner casemarkings appear to be the sterling hallmark, and the patent on the dial is a Pallweber patent.
We can't appraise watches here, but I would guess yours --if cleaned up and working-- would be less than 3000 USD but more than 1000 USD. Just a range, as a guess.
Where would the movement number be? On the inside of the movement cover I see the following numbers: First for the Sterling "0.935" followed by what seems to be a hand etched number: "1583-12L" then at the bottom: "30591"
In your sixth photo, if I've counted correctly, you show the entire movement. At the bottom right there is the balance cock (where there is a regulator index or needle). Above it is two screws. Between the two, on a lower plate, is a series of probably six numbers --that's the movement number here.
Ah yes, it looks like "46544".
Does that help to date the watch?
Err...It can't be a 46544 n--that would be a different type of movement.
If it is 26,544 than it is from 1887, a Pallweber II 19 ligne (the ligne is the size). If it is 16,544 than it is from 1886, and also a Pallweber II 19 ligne. Keep in mind that fancy "1's" were often used in European script.
Yeah, it's hard to tell what it says check out these additional photos and let me know what you think.

At least the first and last digits are 1s. This watch's movement was produced in 1886.

Yes, jimmy, I concur fully. But I don't know when the questions are raised, so what can we do?
In this case it was obvious what gatoractions was after, and his purpose.
Others are not as evident.
I believe that, while being friendly to all newcomers, we should set up a couple of preliminary test questions to all newcomers to clarify if their motivation to join the forum is only to ask for info on a watch to be sold later, on the false pretense that was given as a "gift", or a "grandfather's inheritance"..
We must contemplate the possibility that some may even be telling the truth. :-)
a small watch universe it is -- and no surprise it didn't sell - someone pointed out this sale to me a few days ago, and in particularly this seller who would not entertain any questions. how could he? he would have had to post every question here on this forum, LOL.
