What a fantastic day for a car show! Clear, crisp 65 F degrees. The New England "British Invasion" came to Stowe, Vermont. Focusing on British vehicles. While a Mark/www or 'Spitfire' would be a solid choice for such an event, I had to choose from mostly Portuguese lines - and opted for the simplest, 'vintage-evoking' look in my collection - which happens to be a watch in the current collection - the ref 5454 Portuguese manual-wind.

The next decision was what car to take? Eliminating both Benzes, opted for my wife's Jag since it would be in better company.

What a great day for a drive - you like the traffic here?

Take a look at the engine in that Portuguese!

Richard, you make simple watches look elegant on your wrist with your wrist shots.

    Richard -

Thanks for the report & great choice of watch.

I had a Triumph Spitfire in the mid-80s but I always wanted an XKE after seeing the original "Emmanuelle" movie with Sylvia Kristel in the mid-70s. There was a great scene in the movie with an XKE and I liked the juxtaposition of the car with the scenes of new and old Bangkok. I guess you have to like cars...

    • Tracy

PS: I guess I wasn't the only one to like that clip of the XKE because someone posted it on You Tube. (LOL)

Click here but only if you like the XKE...

    Excellent post.

Very nice watch and I do hope you get your E-Type soon, IMHO one of the most beautiful cars ever created.

This only comes to confirm that in our Forum boys will be boys which, I think, is very comforting.

@Tracy - Great connection, loved the link. LOL

    Cheers!

Richard, absolutely superb and one of the nicest Nad shots we have seen here in a long time!

What a "nice neck of the woods" you found, to take that photo of that magnificent watch on your wrist in!

    Thanks for sharing.

    Richard,

Thanks for posting, it looks like a perfect Fall New England weather day to take a drive with a great watch. Lunch looked pretty good as well.

    Regards,
    Kevin

Bringing back memories of home. Of course, when I live in the Vermont during the 70s, there were no British Car shows. The best we could hope for was a bunch of rusty pick up trucks.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the wonderful report and pictures Richard. I hope one day to take my red Italian sports car from Pisa to Portofino for a spin. Needless to say I will be wearing my Pisa for that trip :-)

    Kind regards,

Oh No Clemens, wqrong way round!!! You need to drive that great little Italian job of yours from Portofino to Pisa, and do so wearing the Portofino Chrono on the mesh Milanese bracelet, only changing to the PISA when in range of the place.

...any excuse is good enough an excuse, to pull the trigger on a new IWC - right?

LOL, I was expecting a reply like this. In that case however, I would go for the Portofino 8 day. My car isn't that fast and a Chrono would only remind me of that ;-)

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

A great event and if it had some flying Spitfires - would have been the cherry on the cake. When I was in London on Sunday a spitfire flew overhead but I wasn't able to get me camera out on time. Good Luck with the Jaguar wishes.
