    Hello,

I am new here in the Forum and besides other IWC watches I recently acquired an old watch.

You might help me to find out what model it is.

    Thank you

I'm confused; are you, Edwin (Indy 1969) the same as Sandman? Or are you, Edwin, asking about another watch? If so a photo would help.

Sandman67, I can't tell without more photos and, also, possibly movement and case numbers. The dial and hands are redone, so I can't tell if your watch is an original watch (except for dial and hands) or a marriage or a fake.

No, I'm not Indy 1969 and I have no clue what his post should mean.

At the moment I have no chance to make any additional pictures, maybe on monday.

The story I've been told about this watch ist that it laid for a long time in the safe of a former IWC distributor. The distributor thought (he wasn't sure about that) that it was buildt before WWII.

In 2010 it has been restaurated by IWC and they silver coated the dial. I don't know, if they changed the hands, but as far as I remember (I saw the watch before) the hands looked the same.

What pictures would you need to identify the watch? Backside? Crown? Caliber (not sure if I can/should open it).

I'm quite sure that it is neither a fake nor a marriage. I also tried to look it up in old catalogues but couldn't find the model.

Thank you so far for your help.

    Kind Regards

    Sandman

Micheal, I am Edwin(Indy 1969) and I tried to copy a photo into here, without a result.

This is the watch, could you tell me how much the retail price would be.
I love I.W.C. And would love to own one...

    Sincerely, Edwin Renou

So why don't you open your own thread instead of thread-jacking mine?

    This is very rude!

Sandman, I understand but he presumably didn't know how. I think we just should give him an ounce of grace and move on.

On your watch, it looks like a late 1930s calibre 83 (that's the movement). I've compiled vintage catalogs at www.iwcforum.com/Vintage_Catalogs.html

I suggest you check there (1935-1942) for similar ones. Is it about 30mm in diameter?

    Dearest Sandman67,

I am so sorry, this is the first time on this forum.
And I just had a question about a beautiful IWC.

    Sincerely Edwin Renou

    You are the Moderator!

I already checked the vintage catalogues, but I could not find one with the same hands and dial.

The hands of No.: 602 in the Catalogue of 1938 look exactly the same, but I could not find a matching dial, although it is similar to some dials from the 1935 catalogue. I guess the diameter is 30 mm.

As far as I know the look was never changed only slightly restaurated.

But I promise to make better pictures asap!

Thank you for your help so far, Michael.

    Kind Regards

    Sandman

    There are some news:

I checked with a former distributor und this is what we found out:

    Movement: Calibre 83C
    Movement No.: 962XXX
    Case No.: 995XXX
    Build: 1937

As far as I understand there are different kinds of how the case bottom ist screwed to the case and this should be the first kind.

I really don't want to sell it, but I would really like to know the actual price I would get, if I would.

    Kind Regards

    Sandman
