Christian is the new head of IWC's Creative Center, succeeding Guy Bove. The Creative Center is the place where IWC's designers work, and that's especially important to collectors.

It's said that the design of the dial is the primary criteria in selling a watch. I'm not sure that's true --but obviously design is very important. And Christian heads up the design team, although the final product is a true cooperative product and Georges Kern does have final say.

During SIHH, I interviewed Christian and hope to get around to providing a fuller report here, time permitting. He is from Germany and previously worked in industrial --but not watch-- design. I think you'll see complete continuity in IWC's products, since Christian's design principles are consistent with IWC's image and goals.

    Regards,
    Michael

I had the opportunity to meet him

in Schaffhausen last January Michael and he is a very nice and relaxed guy. We had a little talk about his employment history in industrial design but he politely refused to mention of his future plans. I guess we ll have to wait and see.

Great guy. Had lunch with him Tuesday.

German, yes, but also speaks fluent Dutch, as he spend seven years in Amsterdam. Christian and I not only share the same name, but also share the same interest and design views rgd. BMWs!

I look forward to see some of his future work at IWC.

At some point we'll all be envious of journalists

....and they do have experiences most of us over-compensated types barely encounter.

    Regards,
Michael (happy to be a real life lawyer and part-time journalist here)
