    Hi guys,

I've just bought my very first IWC. It is the Portuguese 5001 automatic. I'm just wondering if I should always wind it to have full 7 days power reserve or anything else. Would it hurt the movement if I wind too much ??

    Thanks in advance.

First of all: Congratulations to your decision and your first IWC watch. A great start!
No problem to overwind an automatic. It has a special clutch that prevents from damage, but on the other hand there is no necessity to wind it manually to full reserve all the time. It has a lot of power reserve if you don't always wear it and it has a very efficient automatic winding mechanism that will fill up power reserve quite quickly.
When I owned this one I always enjoyed watching the power reserve go up while moving the watch during activity.
Enjoy this wonderful timepiece and probably this great forum too! Probability is pretty high to get addicted to this kind of joy. ;-)
